RE: source code of type56

Richard,

Replacing the "closed-source" version of Type56 with the "open-source"
version is easy if you use the Compaq Visual Fortran 6.6. You can also adapt
the instructions here below and use the appropriate pages on our web site
(http://sel.me.wisc.edu/trnsys/Fortran/fortran.htm) if you are using a
different compiler.

With CVF6.6 and the latest TRNSYS release, you have to modify the project as
follows:
1. Open the "CVF66A" workspace"
2. Browse to the "TRNLIB" project
3. Remove type56.obj and type56_mod.obj from the project
They are under the "modules" folder.
4. Add the two following files to the "Types" folder:
   \Types\Type56\opensource\opensource_type56.for
   \Types\Type56\opensource\opensource_type56_mod.for
To do this, right-click on the folder, choose
"add files to this folder" and browse to the files
5. Rebuild the TRNLIB project (use "Rebuild all")

Make sure that the project settings are correct. In particular, you should
check tat the library listed for the TRNLIB project in
"Project/Settings/Link/Input" is "libc.lib" for the Debug configuration and
"libcd.lib" for the release configuration. Everything should be OK if you
use CVF 6.6 and the project included with the latest TRNSYS release.

Please note that you will not be able to use some features of Type 56 with
the open-source version. Active layers (slab cooling / heating) and internal
windows are not available.
