Dear Trnsys users,
I have used SimCad to build the bui file of a multistory building.
In the course of my study I want to change the direction of the building,
to see differences in heating and cooling loads.
I try to make the process simple by rotating the symbol of North.
Then I build all 3D models, but when I click on the DISPLAYALL
LAYERS button,
keep the old direction for North as default.
So, I am not sure if I successfully changed the direction of the building.
Do I make any mistake? Any hints would be welcome
best regards

Hi Olympia,
Rotating the North vector in SimCad is one way of turning the building.
If you have trouble using it, there's a much simpler way though (that I
personaly prefere):
Go to Preference/TRNSYS parameters and click on "Quick calculation".
In the editor "Turn Building by" you can directly specify an angle by
which you
want to turn the building (clockwise).
The advantage of this method is that SimCad writes an equation for
turning the
building to the deck (instead of redefining all orientations).
You can find this equation later in IISiBat under Global Cards in the
Simulation
Cards editor (there's an equation called TURN=..., where ... is the
angle) and
continue to turn the building even in IISiBat.
Happy turning,
Werner
