Re: Desiccant Cooling component

Catherine,

Is there a component available for modelling desiccant cooling?

Some components are available as part of TRNLib, the library of user-contributed components.

You can find them on our website:
http://sel.me.wisc.edu/trnsys
Go to "TRNLIB", then "Additional categories", then "desiccants"
The direct link is:
http://sel.me.wisc.edu/trnsys/trnlib/dessi.htm

A recent MS Student at the lab also studied rotary enthalpy exchanger and he developed a component, which is available at the SEL (just send me an email). The MS thesis is available online:

You have to realize that those components are not part of the standard package, hence they are not supported by TRNSYS distributors. You will also need a compiler to add them to your TRNSYS DLL.

If you need a better supported / more convenient option, you should contact TESS (Thermal Energy Systems Specialists - www.tess-inc.com). They are currently working on expanded component libraries, which will include desiccant cooling. You may be able to get one component before the official release of the new libraries. Those components come with full support and your distributor will generate a DLL for you.

Kind regards,
