Re: [TRNSYS-users] Windows shading coefficients

Dear Maurizio,

Mine last doubt concerns the insertion of the Windows Shading Coefficients.
Unlike PREBID, in TRNBuild it's not more possible to insert input as "external
Shading Coefficient", but only as "internal Shading Coefficient".

I noticed when I was working with TRNBuild that sometimes the default size of the zone window when it opens is too small to display all of the zone properties and that in fact the External Shading Factor is still there in the lower right hand corner of the window, it just may not be visible until you resize the display.

Can I also use these for the external obstructions? Obviously, as Michael suggests in the case of walls, I could modify the radiations in TRNSYS Studio, but,
having to repeat the calculation for around hundred openings, this it would make excessively complicated the model.

I am not sure that I understand completely - whether you define the shading factors in TRNBuild or in the Studio, each window and each facade that is shaded must have its own calculation of the shading factor due to overhangs, louvers, or external objects on that window or wall. So whether you use a model such as Type34, or Type68 in the Studio or whether you use an equation or whether you define the shading factor inside TRNBuild, you must still do so for each object. That probably sounds quite horrible but often, you can use the same shading factor calculation for more then one window in a facade.

In TRNSYS 16 documentation miss the part regarding the mathematical description of the components. Is it possible to download the complete manual from internet
or is it necessary to ask for it to the distributor?

The manual is still under development - we undertook rather a major reformatting and rewrite of the documentation set between TRNSYS 15 and TRNSYS 16. The documentation that is currently available is located in your \trnsys16\Documentation directory. We will be making updates to the downloadable version of TRNSYS 16 as more parts of the manual are completed in the near future. For models that existed in TRNSYS 15, you can refer back to the TRNSYS 15 documentation set for mathematical descriptions. I apologize for the inconvenience - we are working as fast as we can to get the new documentation ready.

Kind regards,
  David
