Arko,
The shading mask is a more general method of accounting for the shading of an opening by surrounding objects. Type34 can be used to define a combination of wing walls and an overhang - however, there is no real provision in Type34 for defining an object directly in front of the opening. Consequently it becomes difficult to perform shading analysis on openings the face a tree line, other nearby buildings, or into a courtyard. Type68 takes a slightly different approach from Type34 and instead of internally determining the angles of shading for a limited range of geometrical structures it asks you to provide the angular height of all surrounding objects as seen from the opening. You can either determine these angles by hand or they can be automatically generated from SimCad if you use that. Type68 is also not limited to vertical openings as is Type34. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers,
David

Dear TRNSYS users,
I wonder about the function of the shading mask type. What is that and where is the difference to Type 34?! What is a shading mask in general compared to a overhang and wingwall shading?
I am hoping for some suggestions from you.
Thank you
Arko
