The model we build is sensitive to changes in irradiance. The sudden
increase, decrease in irradiance are therefore not appreciated. It's not
such a big issue. For now we can manage with the non-smooth data. Still I am
curious why the smoothing went wrong.

Thanks for the PID controller and the other advices.

Ruut,

Radiation smoothing in Type16 has several known issues, so I would recommend
you not to use it for now. Your "non-smoothed" data seems to be perfectly
acceptable. 

Please also note that Radiation smoothing is very sensitive to some
parameters and connections (e.g. "time of last data read"). Could you please
send me your weather file and deck file (no need to send them to the list)?
