RE: weather files

Dear Marc,

You should use another mode of Type16 (which corresponds to another IISiBat proforma) with TRNSYS TMY files. Type16g ("Total Horiz. , normal beam known") will do the job.
You should connect output 4 of Type89c to input 1 of Type16g and output 3 of Type89c to input 2 of Type16g. Don't forget to connect outputs 99 and 100 to inputs 3 and 4 as well!

Please note that TMY files available on our website are generated from monthly average data - they do not use hourly measurements.
ASHRAE has created a worldwide weather files database (IWEC, International Weather for Energy Calculation). You can purchase the CD form ASHRAE (www.ashrae.org). The files are also available free of charge for EnergyPlus users. EnergyPlus is a free building simulation software sponsored by the US DOE. You can find more information on the web: http://www.eere.energy.gov/buildings/energy_tools/energyplus/. The direct link to weather files is http://www.eere.energy.gov/buildings/energyplus/cfm/weatherdata_int.cfm

Of course, if you need "officialy approved files" or very high quality data, you will have to contact the local meteorological institute (E.g. IWEC files use estimated -not measured- solar radiation).

Subject: weather files

Hi all,

I'm playing with the TMY files i found on the website, it's
great, there's plenty of locations but.... who knows the
relationship between :

- the outputs of the TMY files i.e. Direct normal solar
radiation and Global solar radiation on horizontal and,
- the inputs of type 16i (radiation processor) i.e. Total
radiation on horizontal and Diffuse radiation on horizontal

Thank you all,
