Yes, it is possible to model the effects of shading by surrounding
objects using the Type68 shading mask device. The idea of the component is
that for each surface azimuth as seen from an opening in the building, you
provide an angular height for obstructions that shade the opening from that
angle. It doesn't matter whether the obstruction is part of the building
itself, or part of a surrounding building. The Type computes a reduction in
diffuse radiation seen by the opening because of surrounding obstructions
and indicates whether or not the beam radiation as seen by the opening is
blocked by obstructions at a given time. The Type relies on an external
data file that can be created by hand or generated automatically by SimCad.
