New free SDHWS simulation tool for France

Dear collegues,

I am happy, proud and relieved to announce the availability of SimSol, a
new simulation tool for predicting thermal performance of solar domestic
hot water systems in residential or commercial buildings.

SimSol uses TRNSYS 15 as simulation engine. It is a nice example how
professional applications can be efficiently developed using our
favourite simulation environment. The combination of IISiBat projects,
third-party components, and custom-made types allowed several teams to
collaborate efficiently, using the TRNSYS concepts as a common
‘language’.

The tool  has by far the nicest user interfaces of all the software
projects I had the honour to manage (IISiBat 4, which will have some of
its features, excluded, of course :). A big thank you to the team and
especialy chief programmer Paul Sette who pushed it over the finish line
on time.

The development of SimSol was sponsored by the French Agency for
Environment and Energy Management (ADEME). It can be downloaded for free
from our Web site (http://software.cstb.fr).

SimSol is only available in French for now.
