Changes to Existing Components
Partly due to user feedback and partly as standard development, we've made some changes to existing TRNSYS 14.2 Types. These changes will be reflected in TRNSYS 15. One of the major pushes has been to move several PARAMETERS (constant values read in once at the start of a simulation) to INPUTS (which vary with time). The hope is to make the components more generally applicable...
Type 1 Solar Collector: The four modes of this type have been broken up into four distinct types. A quadratic efficiency collector model, a performance map model, a theoretical flat plate model, and a concentrating parabolic trough model.
Type 2 Differential Controller: The deadband temperatures have been moved from PARAMETERS (constant values thoughout the simulation) to INPUTS (can vary throughout the simulation)
Type 5 Heat Exchanger: This has been broken into two types; one models cross flow, counter flow and parallel flow) while the other models a constant effectiveness heat exchanger. The UA of the heat exchanger has been moved from a PARAMETER to an INPUT so that it can vary with flow conditions.
Type 6 Auxiliary Heater: The set point temperature has been moved from a PARAMETER to an INPUT.
Type 9 Data Reader: The data reader has been broken up into two types, one for reading text files (Type9) and the other for reading standard format files such as TMY2 (Type89). In Type9, the user can now include up to ten data readers in a simulation. In TRNSYS 14, there can be up to five. Also, a parameter has been added that allows the data reader to skip a user specified number of header lines in the data file. In Type89, mode 1 reads TRNSYS TMY files and mode 2 reads TMY2 data.
Type 16 Radiation Processor: Radiation calculations are now made on up to 8 surfaces (instead of four) plus the horizontal. Beam radiation, total radiation, diffuse radiation, and beam radiation incidence angle are calculated for all surfaces. Furthermore, three horizontal radiation correlations have been removed as they date from a time when calculation speed was a more important issue and so use shortcut methods.
Type 65 Online Plotter: Five PARAMETERS have been removed from Type 65 and one has been added. The five removed are 1. update plot every N timesteps. 2. update numerical values every N timesteps. 3: units for simulation time. 4: stop after each plot option. 5: symbols option. The PARAMETER added is the logical unit for a file containing all of the plotted data. Furthermore, you can now use more than one online plot per simulation.
