Dear Edward,
Everytime I run PREBID, it creates 4 files: BLD file, Prebid, Setup
information
and TRN file.
"setup information" is what Windows thinks a file with the extension *.inf
is. Really it is an informational file containing the description of your
building as well as the list of inputs that will be required, the list of
wall transfer function coefficients, u values, etc.
Although TYPES manager can edit some inputs, it cannot edit some others like
SECHEDULE. So if I rely on PREBID to "change" the schedule I need to create
more and more SCHEDULE.
So I follow previous suggetion to edit Prebid Setup Information file (*.INF)
using NOTEPAD. I did this by clicking on GENERATE - Edit INF file in Prebid.
However, whatever the changes I made to *.INF will be overwritten everytime I
create (generate) TYPE 56 files. The same thing happened when I edit the
Prebid
document file (*.bui) file.
what are you finding that you cannot modify? I just double checked and was
able to modify everything about an already created SCHEDULE from within the
Schedule Typemanager. When you define a schedule for the first time, you
most often do so from the zone window when you are setting up whatever
variable is to be scheduled. Once you have created a Schedule,
modifications are made from the Typemanager menu. Select the Schedule from
the drop down menu in the window that pops up and you should be able to
change the timing and value of daily schedules as well as changing which
daily schedule is applied to each day of a weekly schedule. From your
email, it sounds as though you had already understood that but just to be
on the safe side. If you can give me some more specifics about what you are
trying to change, I can try to give a clearer answer.
I also realised that I cannot add or edit comment on the *.INF or *.bui files
as they will be removed from the files once I generate the TYPE 56 files.
you are correct that the .inf file is recreated each time that you generate
the Type56 files. As I mentioned above, this is an informational file, not
one you should modify. You can make your changes in the .bui file. The .bui
file is read each time that you open it in Prebid. It is only "recreated"
when you select File: Save in Prebid. In order to make modifications, what
you need to do is Close Prebid completely. Open your .bui file with
Notepad. Make and save your changes. Close Notepad. Reopen the .bui with
Prebid and verify that your changes were correctly read. If Prebid doesn't
understand the change that you made, it will give you an error.
I think I cannot edit the other two files (*.TRN and *.BLD).
you can but should not modify the .trn, .bld, or .inf file because as you
correctly understood, they are recreated when the Type56 files are
generated. You can modify the .bui provided that it is not also open in
Prebid while you are trying to modify it in Notepad.
