Maurice,
The warning means that the units of the output and the units of the
input to which it is connected are not the same. The units corresponding to
the three digit codes (IR1, TE1) can be found in the big red manual near
the end of chapter 3. For your specific case:
>***** WARNING *****
> UNIT/TYPE/INPUT/VARTYPE CONNECTED TO UNIT/TYPE/OUTPUT/VARTYPE
> ---------------------------------------------------------------
> 31 2 1 TE1 ---------> 12 16 8 IR1
means that UNIT 31 TYPE 2 input 1 should be a temperature in degrees C
(that's what TE1 stands for) but it is connected to UNIT 12 TYPE 16 output
8, which is a radiation in kJ/hr.

means that UNIT 31 TYPE 2 input 3 should be a temperature in degrees C but
it is connected to UNIT 12 TYPE 16 output 8, which is a radiation in kJ/hr.
etc.
Cheers,
David
