Dear Isabelle,
Arie is right, you cannot create real Excel files from TRNSYS. However,
there is a way to create files that will open correctly in excel if you
double click on them for example:
-Use Type25b
-Set the last parameter (Output format "normal" or "SPREADSHEET") to 1
-Choose a file name with an ".XLS" extension
When you save the file from Excel, you will notice that it is a TAB
separated file and not a true excel file (but from there you can save it
as a "real" excel file)
The files created that way will also open correctly if you use File/Open
from Excel.
As Arie also mentioned, Excel locks the file when you open it so any
attempt to run TRNSYS will generate an error (although on my computer the
error is reasonably explicit, it says "write to read-only file blabla.xls")
