physical piece of thermodynamic equipment is modelled in
TRNSYS with a component. Each component is really a FORTRAN
source code model. With TRNSYS, a large number of components are

Free Downloadable Components
Many
individuals have written TRNSYS components and given the
Solar Lab permission to share these components with other TRNSYS
users. The source code and description of these components has
been placed online. These free components are available for TRNSYS 16 and TRNSYS 15
Components
for Sale
While
TRNSYS comes with a set of standard components, two of
the TRNSYS distributors (Transsolar and TESS) have also had
occasion to create new components in the course of their work
using TRNSYS. These distributors have been kind enough to package
their components so that other users can benefit from them. The
SEL distributes some of these libraries. Please download an order
form or contact the TRNSYS coordinator for more information.
TRANSSOLAR

Thermal
Energy Systems Specialists (TESS)
Thermal
Energy System Specialists (TESS) of Madison, Wisconsin
has developed new component libraries for the popular TRNSYS 15.1
simulation software. Each of the components in these new
libraries has been extensively tested and comes complete with
on-line documentation, source code, and free technical support
for 1 year from the date of purchase. Each of these libraries
comes in the IISiBat front-end format for TRNSYS (source code,
documentation, on-line help, icon, etc.) The source code is
provided for each of these models so that they can be quickly and
easily modified if the user wishes to make changes to the model.
Each of the component libraries comes with one or more sample
IISiBat/TRNSYS projects that demonstrate typical uses of the
component models found in that library. TESS currently has six
component libraries for sale; a solar component library, a
storage tank component library, an HVAC component library, a
geothermal heat pump component library, a utility component
library, and an application component library. A list of the
components found in each library is included below. Please check the TESS website for
more details.
If
you have purchased any of the TESS Component Libraries,
check the TESS website
frequently to make sure that you have the very latest versions.
Bug fixes and upgrades to the current version are free of charge
to registered users. Call, e-mail, or fax a request for the
upgrade. Announcements about bug fixes and upgrades also occur
via the TESS Library mailing list.
